Research Interest: Understanding mechanisms of organellostasis of neurons in health and in disease.
Research
Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s are age-related, debilitating and life-threatening disorders with no disease modifying therapies. Understanding underlying mechanisms at the cellular and sub-cellular levels is essential to decipher the progression of disease pathogenesis. The broad interest of our lab is to understand how neuronal organellostasis is affected in a diseased state. Attaining and maintaining the organellostasis is very crucial for neuronal and organismal homeostasis as it hosts the battery of essential biochemical pathways. Overall, our laboratory is interested in understanding how organellostasis gets perturbed during the pathogenesis of neurodegeneration. State-of-the-art microscopic techniques, biochemical and molecular biology tools will be used to address these questions.
