The centre is looking for an outstanding scientist for the post of Deputy Director. The Deputy Director, in addition to contributing to the research at the centre, shall assist the Director of the centre in day-to-day operation of the centre. The candidate is expected to work closely with the Director, the Board of Governors and the Advisory body in the organisation, execution and promotion of the activities of the centre and shall discharge duties and functions. The centre will have a new Director from November 2023 and the person chosen now for the Deputy Director position will be given a strong consideration for that position.


Key Duties

  1. Work closely with the Director on all aspects of governance.
  2. Assisting the Director in engagement with consortia members and other stake-holders
  3. Design and implementation of new research activities at the centre, will oversee the
    development of the future scientific vision of the centre.
  4. Provide mentoring and monitoring of the large research projects at the centre, such as
    SANSCOG/TLSA. This will also involve working with the external research partners to ensure
    successful execution of the projects to meet the projected goals.
  5. Overlooking the maintenance and overall running of the Core facilities at CBR. This includes
    a) Computational Infrastructure
    b) Next generation sequencing
    c) Biobank &
    d) Microscopy facilities. All facility mangers will report to Deputy Director.
  6. Work with the Academic Committee and faculty to ensure successful execution of the Ph.D.
    programme at CBR.
  7. Mentoring of faculty members.
  8. Continue to pursue his/her own research on topics of relevance to the Centre and build a
    strong presence.

Essential Qualification, Experience and Key Skills

  1. PhD in Science/Eng/MD/DM with a good academic record throughout the career
  2. Minimum 5 years of research experience at the level of Professor or equivalent in the
    relevant field with administrative experience
  3. Expertise in neuroscience, clinical, genetic, and/or epidemiological research related to aging
    and neurodegenerative disorders would be desirable
  4. Demonstrable leadership and strategic planning experience
  5. Good communication and interpersonal skills

Remuneration and other Benefits

The annual salary will be Rs. 65 lakhs (CTC), which includes Gratuity and employer’s contribution
to National Pension Scheme. The Centre will contribute partial payment for health insurance, i.e.
Rs.10,000/- per annum.

This appointment is for a 6-year term initially, which is renewable based on performance.

CBR invites application for faculty positions from candidates willing to perform cutting edge research for understanding brain health. CBR provides a multidisciplinary environment with a common goal of understanding brain aging and aging associated disorders. Candidates must have good scientific experience and proven academic track record in the form of peer-reviewed publications. Candidates must be able to execute the research independently and cohesively with people at CBR.  

Appointments will be at a level equivalent to Assistant Professor or above that will be commensurate with experience and research accomplishments. Candidates with experience in genetics, molecular, cellular and cognitive neuroscience are encouraged to apply.
